About this course
Asbestos remains in many older buildings and equipment. Disturbing materials that contain it can release harmful fibres into the air. This course introduces common asbestos types, possible locations and the health effects of exposure. It explains the importance of checking registers and surveys before starting work, recognising the limits of that information and responding safely to unexpected discoveries. This is awareness training. It does not qualify or authorise you to disturb, sample or remove asbestos.
What you will learn

- Why appearance alone cannot identify asbestos.
- How asbestos registers and surveys support planning.
- What to do if you discover or accidentally disturb suspect material.
- How to avoid spreading contamination.
- Why asbestos work requires appropriately trained and competent people.
